Moving Prevention “Upstream”—A Conversation About Santa Cruz County’s Family First Prevention Services Program

Event Date: February 21, 2023

Watch this CORE Coffee Chat on Moving Prevention “Upstream”, with consultant Sarah Marschall, Robin Luckett (Human Services Department – Family and Children’s Services Division Director), and Jose Flores (Santa Cruz County Probation, Juvenile Division Director). Learn about and hear participants’ input on Santa Cruz County’s Comprehensive Prevention Plan (CPP), a countywide, cross-sector plan that is being developed in response to federal and state child abuse prevention initiatives, including the Family First Prevention Services Act (FFPSA) and Family First Prevention Services (FFPS) program.

Participants also shared their thoughts and ideas on:

  • What supports and services are available and accessible to meet families’ needs as they arise?

  • What gaps and barriers contribute to inequitable outcomes, and what can we do to address them?

  • How can we co-create more equitable systems and structures that prevent “the Pair of ACEs” — Adverse Childhood Experiences in Adverse Community Environments — and create the conditions for all children, youth, and families to thrive?
