Harnessing Local Data to Create the CORE Conditions for: Safe & Just Communities

Watch this community conversation about harnessing local data to foster a Safe, Just Community (one of the eight CORE Conditions for Health & Well-being) so that all community members experience fair, humane approaches to ensuring safety that foster trust, respect, and dignity.
During this session we explored local, regional, state and national data in the CORE Results Menu on DataShare in order to gather insights, identify trends, and make meaning of data in these Safe, Just Community impact areas:
Individuals and families are free from all forms of violence
Neighborhoods and communities are safe
Justice systems are fair, restorative, and promote healing
Participants shared their perspectives on these questions:
What “stories” do the selected indicators tell about the assets of people/places in our communities?
What’s missing? What questions could (or should) we be asking about bias, limits, and context of the data?
What programs, practices, and policies exist (or are needed) to create the conditions for a Safe, Just Community for all community members across the lifespan?
How could we build on the available data to measure change, learn what works, and assess our collective impact?
This was the seventh session in an 8-part community conversation designed to dive into the data that can help people identify community strengths and needs, set goals for community well-being, track progress, and connect strategies across the CORE Conditions for Health and Well-being.
